The genuine five star hotel in Bilbao, it has been related to the
Guggenheim Museum ever since Frank Gehry made it his home and drew his
first sketches for the museum in his room. Every distinguished visitor
to the city has been a guest and the hotel proudly exhibits an amazing
guest book.
It was first open as a classic style hotel furnished by Valenti and with
a typical British touch. It has now taken on a big challenge to combine
its original style with an avant garde design. The Zaila team has
combined in each room the straight lines of the pieces of furniture in
steel and oak with the neo-baroque wallpapers and the sober black and
white clothing, colour coming from the red velvet upholstery. A place
for unique sensations is the Ambigú Lounge, selected "templum Möet" in
northern Spain by Möet Chandon. Daylight bursts into the Club Nautico
Restaurant, with black ceilings and walls contrasting with the light
colours of the furniture. Europfelix silverplate, Bohemia crystal and
Villeroy & Boch table service. Remarkable are the marble chess floors,
the stained glass windows and the tear-drop lamps.
The hotel is situated in the centre of the of the capital of Biscay,
only five minutes' walking distance from the Guggenheim Museum, near the
main points of interest in Bilbao. Beyond the museum, you will be able
to visit the Museum of Fine Arts with its incredible art collection. The
Gran Vía, full of pubs and restaurants and the bridge designed by
world-renowned architect Calatrava which leads you to the old quarter,
found nearby as well.
