An atmospheric, 18th century Baroque monastery converted into a charming
hotel with an excellent restaurant and top class services, right in the
centre of El Puerto de Santa María. This typically Andalusian town –
think great tapas, sherry, and fine beaches – is located at the heart of
Cádiz bay and has an unspoilt atmosphere which is a world apart from the
over-developed Costa del Sol. Hotel Monasterio San Miguel was carefully
restored in 1989 and features a shaded courtyard and pool, religious
artefacts on display, peaceful arched corridors and a wealth of
magnificent architectural detail. No matter where you decide to rest
here you'll find a palpable sense of peace and tranquillity, not least
of all in the rooms, many of which overlook the verdant gardens.
The rooms and suites are very comfortable and offer all a demanding
visitor may need. There is also a small swimming pool, solarium and
tropical garden, in addition to a very good restaurant - Las Bóveda –
offering excellent food, based on local fresh fish and seafood. There's
also a Spanish-style cafetería, Las Capuchinas, where you can have a
sandwich or quick beer before setting off on a tour of the city.
Popular attractions for guests staying in Hotel Monasterio San Miguel
include the town's famous bullring where bullfights are held mainly in
early May and during the month of August. There are several bodegas in
the town centre, all of which can be visited by the public. The beach is
just 2 Km away and the airport is 18 Lm distance. In addition, the towns
of Jerez and Cádiz are within less than 20 minutes drive; you can take
the ferry "El Vaporcito" from El Puerto de Santa María to the Cádiz.
Finally, the hotel offers discount green fees with golf courses in the
area, as well as guided visits to the bodegas, and other activities.
