Located in the idyllic and historic village of Cartajima, hidden away in
the mountains and surrounded by chestnut forests, Los Castaños is a
charming, elegant Hotel warmly attended by resident proprietors Di and
Lu. A Moorish style exterior gives way to cozy, rural public lounges,
with a few romantic little nooks in which to hide. A small fountain,
bowls of fruits, and pretty curtains enhance the ambience which ends up
in a small whitewashed courtyard, with pots of color all over the place
and from where you can admire the town church bell tower, looming above
you. Whitewashed walls, comfy armchairs, terracotta-tiled floors and
excellent halogen lighting decorate the extremely comfortable and
attractive bedrooms, perfectly complemented with cast-iron mirror frames
from Morocco, scatter cushions on the beds and fresh flower from the
garden to add a touch of color. From the balconies stunning views of the
surrounding Andalucian white town, the valley and the mountains can be
enjoyed.
In summer, head to the roof terrace and let a bit of laziness and the
great views of the forest and hills, wrap around you. In the winter
months, curl up by a roaring fire with a good book from the library. At
the end of the day, savour delightful Western Mediterranean meals. Di
and Lu, will make sure to get the best of the season, to prepare great
home cooked food. A real treat that always hits the spot. At Los
Castaños, a relaxed, intimate and sophisticated hideaway, quality,
comfort, and attention to detail, are encouraged to provide guests, with
the best possible time during their stay.
